If you are one who is always busy working late at office do not have time to spend with the family, or is not completely satisfied with the way your life is moving, read Robin Sharma’s ‘The Monk Who Sold his Ferrari’.
"The Monk Who Sold Ferrari" is a fable, a beautiful story of spiritual revival through ancient principles of living. Julian Mantle, a trial lawyer in his fifties, had all the material comforts of the world including a Ferrari car. But when he was faced with a heart attack in the courtroom, he starts realising the truth that neither Ferrari nor any other valuable possessions can be of help for him. While at hospital, he realized that his job, his material comforts and his life style were no longer giving him any satisfaction. He decided to go on a journey to find answers to the questions on life. He sells all his property, including his Ferrari, before starting his long journey to find the truth. At the end of the journey, he reaches a mystical land, in the Indian side of Himalayas.
The book is about the secrets of life that he learns from the Sages of Sivana who live away from the modern civilization. After returning from India, Julian explains to John, who was Julian’s junior, the Seven Virtues that he learned from the Sages of Sivana which, according to Julian, will help anyone to live a happy life and reach one's destiny. They are:
1) Master Your Mind
2) Follow Your Purpose
3) Practice Kaizen
4) Live with Discipline
5) Respect Your Time
6) Selflessly Serve Others
7) Embrace the Present
The book is filled with wisdom, a bit overwhelming at times. It doesn't matter whether you are young or old, or what your profession is, this book is a must read for everyone. It reminds you to step out of the busy life that you are living as and enjoy the journey to destiny of life.
